Matthew Reilly’s newest release, The Two Lost Mountains, continues the Jack West Jr series and immediately answers the questions that were left unanswered at the conclusion of The Three Secret Cities. The book is filled to the absolute brim with action and, in typical Reilly style, reinvents ancient mythologies to create an immersive and overall extremely entertaining story.
We see Jack West claw his way back into the race to prevent the end of the universe, and the triumphs and failures that come with challenging someone who has more knowledge, resources and power than you. It has you on the edge of your seat on numerous occasions and celebrating with the characters over all their small victories.
The Two Lost Mountains is an absolute page turner, I could not put it down. I read all four hundred-ish pages in twenty four hours and seven minutes (and that includes sleeping, and a full school day). I picked up the book at 10pm on a Tuesday and didn’t go to sleep until 12:15am on Wednesday, I just needed to find out what happened next. I just loved it.
The book is a classic Matthew Reilly novel, the perfect mix of action and thrill. If you love any of his previous work, you’ll enjoy this one because it is a great middle instalment of the concluding story arc of the Jack West series.
