If you grew up avidly reading the Baby-Sitters Club novels, you’d best be prepared to meet Kristy, Mary Anne, Stacey, Dawn and Claudia all over again, because Netflix has rebooted the show and it comes out 5pm today!
This 10-episode live-action reboot of Ann M. Martin’s beloved book series about a group of young girls from Stoneybrook, Connecticut, who decide to become baby-sitters looks cute as hell, lovingly made by showrunner Rachel Shukert (GLOW) and executive producer Lucia Aniello (Broad City).

Adorable, right?
Starring Sophie Grace as Kristy Thomas, Malia Baker as Mary Anne Spier, Momona Tamada as Claudia Kishi, Shay Rudolph as Stacey McGill, and Xochitl Gomez as Dawn Schafer, with Alicia Silverstone also making an appearance as Kristy’s mother Elizabeth, the Netflix version of The Baby-Sitters Club is an ultra-modern and diversified reboot that’s already garnering some great reviews.
So, if you’re a fan of the original book series or you’re a younger reader discovering the Club for the first time, here’s where to start.
Where to start?
With 131 titles in the original series, all with instantly recognisable covers, The Baby-Sitters Club books are nothing short of iconic. While you could easily read the books in any order you like, the very best place to start reading is with book number 1, Kristy’s Great Idea. This book is where it all began, with Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, and Stacey all deciding to team up and become baby-sitters to earn some extra cash while doing something they love.
Kristy’s Great Idea is followed by Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls, The Truth About Stacey, and so on. And if you’ve read the books a million times, you should definitely check out the gorgeous graphic novel versions, complete with art by Gale Galligan, Raina Telgemeier, Katy Farina and more.
See you in Stoneybrook!
