The Costa Books Awards have announced their shortlists!
The Costa Book Awards are given across five different categories: First Novel, Novel, Biography, Poetry, and Children’s Book. They are the only major UK book prize open exclusively to authors who are residents of the UK and Ireland.
This year there were 641 entries submitted, which is the highest number ever received in the history of the awards.
The winners will be announced on Monday the 7th of January 2019 and each category winner will receive a prize of £5,000. The overall winner of the 2018 The Costa Book of the Year will be announced on Tuesday 29th January 2019 and will receive a prize of £30,000!
