A new book has been announced from bestselling author of the Inheritance Cycle, Christopher Paolini.

The first book in the series, Eragon was published in 2005, when Christopher Paolini was only 19-years-old, and since then the series has captured 35 million readers worldwide.

The new book is titled The Fork, The Witch and the Worm, and will include three all-new stories, interspersed with scenes from Eragon’s own unfolding adventure.

In addition to the four stories, Christopher Paolini has created four pierces of original artwork – an illustration to accompany each story as well as a map. It will also features pages of Angela the herbalists’s memoir, written by Paolini’s sister (Angela) who inspired the character.

Eragon and his dragon Saphira will be featured in The Fork, The Witch and the Worm. The first story begins a year after Eragon has departed Alagaësia to train a new generation of Dragon Riders. He is struggling with an endless sea of tasks: constructing a vast dragonhold, wrangling with suppliers, guarding dragon eggs, and dealing with belligerent Urgals and haughty elves. A vision from the Eldunarí, unexpected visitors, and an exciting Urgal legend offer a much-needed distraction and a new perspective.

This is incredibly exciting news for fans, who have been waiting some time since Paolini’s last book.  Inheritance, the fourth book in the Inheritance Cycle, was published in 2011 and Paolini has long promised fans a 5th book in the Inheritance cycle, as well as potential prequels, sequels and standalone novels set in the same world.

The Fork, The Witch and the Worm is not considered the 5th book in the series. It is a collection of short stories which will expand on the world and the characters of the Inheritance Cycle.

The Fork, The Witch and the Worm will be published on the 12th of December 2018  – click here to order a copy now.
