Newsflash: Michael Connelly to be awarded the CWA’s Diamond Dagger

A huge congratulations is in order for bestselling crime writer Michael Connelly today. The Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) will present Connelly with the CWA Diamond Dagger, awarded annually for ‘sustained excellence’.

“A combination of wonderful characters, vivid settings, and gripping storylines characterises his work. The CWA is delighted to celebrate his achievements with the award of the Diamond Dagger.” – CWA

The Diamond Dagger recognises crime authors who have continually made a significant contribution to this genre.

October 25th will be the big day for Connelly, with plans to award this incredible honour in British crime writing at the CWA’s Dagger Awards ceremony in London. Celebration ensues.

CWA’s chair Martin Edwards praised Connelly’s writing, saying his “crime novels have won international acclaim for more than a quarter century, and have given readers, television viewers, and film fans rich entertainment.”

Here here! We certainly can’t get enough of his thrilling stories, some of his latest being Two Kinds of Truth and The Late Show.

Connelly himself seems a bit chuffed by the award. “How can a writer who writes about a guy trying make sense of things in Los Angeles ever expect to receive recognition from such a fine group from so far away?” He says. “It’s beyond anything I could have imagined, and I am very honoured and humbled.”
