Dubbed a ‘really reliable memoir’, radio star Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones came to Booktopia to help set a few things straight. For instance, why did he write his memoir Fifty Shades of 50? Is he scared of losing his memory or is it a midlife crisis?
“It’s like a half-life report card and if I do indeed live like a Galapagos Turtle to 100, then good. But I think for me I’m not having a midlife crisis. I don’t have a problem with turning 50. I had more of a problem with turning 27.” – Brendan
Brendan keeps busy entertaining thousands of Sydney-siders as co-host of radio talkshow 101.7 WSFM with Amanda Keller. Not to mention being a parent! But now that Brendan’s kids are growing up, what’s next? For Jonesy, it’s time to write. Have a listen to our podcast interview with Jonesy below, where he delves into what it was like writing about his life, including why he chose radio, the lead up to it, his chance at starring on TV and what it’s like to have your own children read about your youthful discretions.
“It’s bigger than me. It’s almost akin to… if I was a musician, the radio is my music, as wanky as that sounds.” – Brendan
Oh, for those of you who don’t know, Jonesy was this year named the sexiest man in radio.
