“If you’ve got the fire in your belly, listen to it and go with it. But understand it ain’t for the faint-hearted and there’s going to be a lot of scar tissue on the way through.” – Kevin Rudd
You might all remember the phrase Kevin ’07. Back in 2007, Kevin Rudd was elected as Prime Minister of Australia, and again in 2013, and his passion for politics is part of what drove him to write a two-part autobiography. The first part, Not for the Faint-hearted, is out just in time for Christmas! This is an optimistic book, written with passion, conviction and insight.
“This book is intended as a letter of encouragement for young people across the country who are considering a career in public policy and politics because it matters, because you can bring about sustainable change.” – Kevin
How did a boy from Eummundi rise to the most powerful office in the country? Part one, Not for the Faint-hearted, is all about the journey that lead Kevin to that very office, to becoming Prime Minister of Australia. Part two is yet to come and will cover what happened after the election of 2007.
“Very few of us are capable of objectively analysing ourselves and so it’s useful to have a chat with those nearest and dearest to you.” – Kevin
John sat down with Kevin Rudd to talk about Not for the Faint-hearted, have a listen here:
Not for the Faint-hearted
A Reflection On Life, Politics and Purpose
In 2007, Kevin Rudd became only the third Labor prime minister since the Second World War, after Whitlam and Hawke, to win government from opposition. In doing so he also defeated, and unseated, John Howard, the longest-serving conservative prime minister since Menzies.
This is an optimistic book, written with passion, conviction and insight. It is the first in a two-volume autobiography. It covers the unlikely rise of the 'boy from Eumundi' to the most powerful office in the land.

Bronwyn Eley
Before entering the exciting world of books, Bronwyn served in the Royal Australian Air Force, travelled extensively and worked (still does!) as a barista on the weekends. Books are her true passion. Bronwyn's debut fantasy novel Relic is coming out in 2019 with indie publishing house Talem Press. They are to publish her entire trilogy called The Relic Trilogy. In her spare time, Bronwyn writes, reads and enjoys keeping fit (which she undoes by eating loads of chocolate) with Martial Arts and personal training. She can't answer what her favourite book is but she has a soft spot for Peter Pan (J.M Barrie), Outlander (Diana Gabaldon), Stardust (Neil Gaiman), The Illuminae Files (Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman) and Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo). Fantasy, sci-fi and YA make up the majority of her bookshelves.
