The Kids Big Day Out program – as part of the 21st Byron Writers Festival – is designed especially for 6-12 year olds and will be held on Sunday 6 August.

There will be creative writing workshops, craft and drawing activities, and of course, the chance for children to meet and be entertained by their favourite authors and illustrators!

Writers on hand to spark imaginations will include:
Hilary Badger, author of Zac Power and State of Grace
Tristan Bancks, author of My Life and Other Weaponised Muffins and  The Fall
Morris Gleitzman, author of Maybe, Once, Then, Now, After and Soon
Lucas Proudfoot, author of The Proud Foots

Sally Rippin, author of Polly & Buster: The Wayward Witch and The Feelings Monster

Peter Helliar, author of Frankie Fish and the Sonic Suitcase

Richard Roxburgh, author of Artie and the Grime Wave

“Byron Writers Festival is committed to nurturing young readers and Kids Big Day Out is a major drawcard for families in the region. Children will see their favourite stories come alive and meet some of Australia’s most talented children’s writers,“ said Festival Director, Edwina Johnson.

Featured authors will each entertain the children from 9:30am to 2pm on Sunday 6 August in the Greenstones Partners Marquee. In the afternoon the fun continues with creative writing workshops, a drawing activity table and a pop-up library next to the colourful StoryBoard bus.
