One of music’s most influential figures Lou Reed has passed away in New York overnight.
The cause was complications from a liver transplant, which he received in May at the Cleveland Clinic.
Rather than mourn the great man, it is only fitting to celebrate one of the finest songwriters of the last century.
Here is his masterpiece, Perfect Day. Read the lyrics, give it a listen, and remember Lou today.
Just a perfect day
drink Sangria in the park
And then later
when it gets dark, we go homeJust a perfect day
feed animals in the zoo
Then later
a movie, too, and then homeOh, it’s such a perfect day
I’m glad I spend it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging onJust a perfect day
problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
it’s such funJust a perfect day
you made me forget myself
I thought I was
someone else, someone goodOh, it’s such a perfect day
I’m glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging onYou’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
