A signed edition of Keith Richards’ Life up for grabs..and yes he can write

by |December 6, 2010

I have spent the last couple of days with Keith Richards. Well, as close as I am ever going to get to Keith Richards. I’ve been to the concerts and been in awe of how those arthritic hands on the giant video screens can still produce the most amazing seemless riffs. Like just about everyone else on the planet over 20 and under 70 , my life has been punctuated by lines from Stones songs. What I have never had before is a piece of Keef.

For the last two days I have had by my bed a signed edition of Keith Richard’s Life. I haven’t dared to open it past the first page which is actually printed with “exclusive signed edition”. Underneath that, in scratchy black biro with a definite signs of a tremor, (now there’s a surprise) – is the mark of the man himself.

Ten of these exclusive signed editions have come into the country. I have got one of them and apparently I am not allowed to keep it for myself. So folks, here goes…

I am going to give away this very rare exclusive signed edition of the autobiography of the rock ‘n roll king to someone who orders before 9am Wednesday

And just for a bit of fun, I want you to answer a question this crucial question :

If Keith was coming to your place for Christmas lunch, what you put under the tree for him?

Answer the question at keithrichards@booktopia.com.au and don’t forget to put in your order number.

LIFE is a publishing sensation that reaches far beyond the genre of rock ‘n roll memoir. This book is currently at number 3 across Australia and stocks are starting to run low. This is your opportunity to own a piece of the legend, or, dare I say it, to give that prized edition to someone who will really value it.

But wait…there is more.

Following the highly acclaimed Wisdom, Andrew Zuckerman now turns his unique photographic perspective to MUSIC. Fifty eminent individuals – artists, composers, producers and performers from rock, rap, dance, soul, R&B, classical, country, reggae, pop, jazz, world and more – are all subjected to Zuckerman’s democratic style, hyperreal photography to create an inspiring and brilliant perspective of music and musicians.

Daniel Johns, Jimmy Barnes, Burt Bacharach, Graham Nash, Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, Yoko Ono, Sinead O’Connor, Kenny Rogers, Ziggy Marley, Mark Knopfler, Iggy Pop, Neil Finn – the list goes on.

This is a very handsome volume with stunningly clear facial close-ups on stark white backgrounds. Each artist is accompanied by the quote that encapsulates them best plus an essay in their own words.

This book is pure inspiration for anyone for whom music has made a difference in their lives, or anyone who is fascinated in the creative spark.

Now, back to our Keith and that precious signed copy. Just to make it perfectly clear, you’ve got to put your order in by 9 am Wednesday. And don’t forget to answer the question.

I’ll contact the lucky recipient on Thursday, and post the name, and some of the answers here.  Between now and then, Keith is staying at my place!

Keith would have to be on his best behaviour if he was to come to my place for Christmas lunch. LOL. Well, what do you get for the man who has everything? For Keith I would find the most beautiful Irish Waterford Crystal whiskey tumbler I could find. That would be great, ’cause I know he would use it , not stick it in a cupboard somewhere, and there is nothing that makes a person feel special like drinking out of a gorgeous glass, whatever you may like to put in it. :^) My order number is 516419. (I’d love to win the signed copy of Keith’s book. Hope I am answering in the correct place.)

That’s not very well written is it? After the words, whiskey tumbler, take out “I could find”. Now it reads a little better. Must be in the wrong place. Surely everyone wants to win the signed copy?
