BREAKING NEWS: Philip Pullman Possibly Pilloried

by |March 29, 2010

Philip Pullman’s latest literary offering – The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ – has caused a stir among religious zealots.

Pullman told the Sunday Times –

“Many refer to the title itself, for which there is clearly a passionate objection from some out there,” he said. “The letter writers essentially say that I am a wicked man, who deserves to be punished in hell.

Luckily it’s not in their power to do anything like sending me there.”

The book is the latest in The Myths Project, which is a long-term global publishing project where some of the world’s most respected authors re-tell myths in a manner of their own choosing –  Karen Armstrong,  Margaret Atwood,  Michel Faber, David Grossman, Milton Hatoum, Alexander McCall Smith,  Klas Ostergren, Victor Pelevin, Ali Smith,  Su Tong, Dubravka Ugresic,  Salley Vickers and  Jeanette Winterson.
