A reaaly good read. It doesn't take very long as it is quite short and the background information provided by the postscript about the history of the making of the film is an essential for anyone who is an enchanted by the film as I am. The essential philosophical and moral issues traversed by this book are as important now for us as an interconnected technological global culture as they ever could have been for Dick's projected future for our world. The post-apocalyptic grittiness of the narrative is gripping. I found the elaboration of a coercive mass-media to be particularly insightful. The role of religion and a collective participation in a virtual, technologically mediated suffering experience was also a very interesting projection upon the future.
