Meltdowns and shutdowns typically result when a person has been exposed to more stimulation (social interaction, too much sound, light, touch... etc.) than they can handle. This book follows on from 'Asperger's Syndrome: Meltdowns and Shutdowns (1)' and looks at meltdowns and shutdowns in more detail, as well as how sensory processing difficulties can contribute. Sensory difficulties affect many people on the autism spectrum, but it may be underestimated just how big of an influence they have on stress and anxiety levels.
