Amy Curry's year sucks. And it's not getting any better. Her mother has decided to move, so somehow Amy has to get their car from California to the East Coast. There's just one problem: since her father's death Amy hasn't been able to get behind the wheel of a car. Enter Roger, the son of a family friend, who turns out to be funny, nice . . . and unexpectedly cute.
But Roger's plans involve a more "scenic" route than just driving from A to B, so suddenly Amy finds herself on the road trip of a lifetime. And, as she grows closer to Roger, Amy starts to realise that sometimes you have to get lost to find your way home. . .
About the Author
Morgan Matson formerly worked as a teen book editor. Morgan is a lover of roadtrips, having crossed the USA three times ... so far, and a huge music fan, both passions that fed into her first YA novel Amy & Roger's Epic Detour. When not writing, she drinks far too much coffee, watches old movies, and plans out her next journey. She lives in California.
"The narrative keeps its momentum even through flashbacks that gradually reveal more about Amy's family tragedy and interspersed pages from Amy's travel scrapbook, which includes jotted state overviews, souvenir menus, and long, keenly apt music playlists that'll send readers off to downloading. If all road trips were like this, nobody'd ever stay home."--Bulletin for the Center of Children's Books
