Rosie Batty knows pain no woman should have to suffer. Her son was killed by his father in a violent incident in February 2014, a horrendous event that shocked not only the nation, but the world. Greg Anderson murdered his 11-year-old son Luke and was then shot by police at the Tyabb cricket oval. Rosie had suffered years of family violence, and had had intervention and custody orders in place in an effort to protect herself and her son. She believes the killing was Greg's final act of control over her.

Since the events of last February, Rosie has become an outspoken crusader against domestic violence, winning hearts and minds all over Australia with her compassion, courage, grace and forgiveness. In the wake of the tragedy, Rosie's advocacy work has forced an unprecedented national focus on family violence, with the Victorian Labor government establishing Australia's first royal commission into family violence, and committing a further $30 million over four years to protect women and children at high risk of family violence. The then Victorian Police Commissioner Ken Lay called it 'the Rosie Batty factor'. In January 2015, Rosie was named Australian of the Year, 2015.

Inspiring, heartfelt and profoundly moving, this is Rosie's story.

Deeply moving

Rosie Batty is an inspiration to all women

A woman of strength.

I use Rosie's story to open up a conversation with friends around domestic violence. This has to stop!

This by far was one of the best books I have read in a long time. It was such a well written book, that I couldn't put down.

South Australia

I enjoyed reading Rosie's journey. She gave an honest and brutal recount of her life. There are also useful 'lessons' to take away- therefore it would be useful reading for those who work with domestic violence victims and in the wellness business in general.

Just your average mother..

Rosie Batty, an Australian Of The Year, a mother, a daughter, a human being.. just like the rest of the world. An easy read, sad moments as imagined but not necessarily in relation to the murder of her son, she has lived a challenging life since young. What a woman! Its nice to see she isn't a robot like some may think.

A must read

Such a well written book and one that everyone should read. A great read from a great lady

Worth a Read

Although the subject matter is tragic, this book is worth reading, especially if you like true crime. Easy to read, I found a lot of the focus was on the background story leading up to the main event. The length of the background story surprised me and I felt it was a bit too long. Overall the book is insightful, honest and well written.

Love it

A beautifully written story. Rosie has definitely had a tough life from a young age, yet she still seems to shine and rise above it to use her experiences to help others. Rosie, you are a true hero. God Bless.
