This book covers more than 400 species, representing some 80 different genera.

Ivan Holliday's A Field Guide to Australian Trees has been reprinted numerous times and become a classic guide. This 3rd revised edition includes four additional species, and both the text and pictures of many other entries have been updated. This book covers more than 400 species, representing some 80 different genera. Better known groups like the acacias and eucalypts are well represented, but a special effort has been made to include a large number of species from Australia's diverse rainforests.

I brought this book to supplement my "What 'thing' is that?" range, I have fish, birds, bush tucker etc. This book is quite different, I almost feel one needs to be a botanist to fully appreciate it, all trees are simply listed alphabetically by botanical name. Much easier to find 'water or ground dwelling birds' or 'estuary or fresh water fishes'. Perhaps if the trees had of been caterogised by 'large, small, high country, coastal or similar it would have been much more useful for me. The quality of the contents are without question, the individual trees descriptions along with the color photos and hand drawings are excellent.
