Basing on Banta dieters' feedback, the authors, Dr. Tanya Zilberter and Eugene Zilberter, a chef and one of Banta's developers, decided to publish the Banta cookbook as a standalone diet tools. The Banta plan doesn't require calorie, fat, or carbohydrate counting or portion control. Any food is allowed as long as it is balanced by other meal components.
