About the Author

William Makepeace Thackeray was born in Calcutta, India in 1811. Educated in London and Paris, he studied Law and Arts before turning his attention to writing. His first novel Catherine was published in 1839. Other works include The History Of Henry Esmond Esq (1852); The Virginians (1857); Book Of Snobs (1848); The History Of Pendennis (1850).
