This is the 2008 Annual, number 72 if you are a collector, but there is nothing about this book that makes it relevant to that year. It is packed with stories, illustrations, activities and so much more. There are several short stories in this book. Incredible value and one of the good things about this book's structure is that each page of a story is broken down in to a chapter, mostly with 4 illustrations like a coloured comic with words associated to the picture and then a couple of paragraphs at the bottom of the page. The beauty of this structure is it is already teaching kids to read a story in chapters, so it is a great pre-cursor to chapter books or perfect for kids who have not yet got in to the chapter books. This could get them going. Probably best suited to 5 to 8 year olds. It can be read by kids older than 8 but the subject matter may be a bit too young for them by the time they get to 9 and beyond.
The Rupert Annual is a national institution, and Egmont are giving it a new lease of life.
While retaining the mix pictures, rhyming text and story paragraphs that gives traditional Rupert its charm, Egmont has updated the artwork and stories to create an annual with universal appeal.
Rupert's world is timeless, and Egmont are bringing it to a new generation!
