Since the arrival on the market of Patricia Thompson and Betty Maloney's two previous books, THE GAME OF MAH JONG ILLUSTRATED and IMPROVE YOU MAH JONG, a wide range of hands from many parts of the world has been sent to them. In this player's companion the authors have put together a cross-filled reference guide where over 120 hands, illustrated in colour, can be quickly identified by following the flip-top headings on each page. A full synopsis of each hand is included. The extra hands give an international flavour to the book, adding new interest and challenges.

Comments about The Mah Jong Player's Companion:

Essential for Mah Jong enthusiasts who wish to play the Western Form of the game. One of three books by the authors on the game of Mah Jong. This is a working copy with many pages of coloured Mah Jong hands illustrated. Some hand descriptions, however, could be more explicit.
The price of the book was good, and with rapid, free delivery.

Comments about The Mah Jong Player's Companion:

The Mah Jong Companion is essential 'reading' to every Mah Jong player who's new to the game, the illustrated examples for accepted plays require very little further explanation.
However, the sheer number of different game plays make it seem too 'daunting' to master at first, but memorizing all at once is never required. This book is a good 'learn as you play' guide.
