A cat s eyes are windows enabling us to see into another world. In this book we enter their vision.

Since cats first snuck into the homes of our ancestors to take warmth from the fire, Felis catus has been by man s side, loved for its friendship, independence, and beauty. In The Life & Love of Cats, Lewis Blackwell provides a unique perspective on one of our closest and most cherished companions.

Starting with the earliest records on domestic cats 9,000 years ago in Africa and the Mediterranean, Blackwell celebrates and explores the joy of cats in our lives. In a highly accessible text, he searches for the essence of our relationship with this. For him, it is a love affair that will never end.

Supporting the text is his presentation of a unique range of images shot by leading animal photographers from around the world. Blackwell weaves stories around these photographs, tales that travel across the breadth of time and space, tracking the amazing relationships of cats with humankind: from the homes of middle-America, to the alleys and lanes of France, and to the plains of Africa.

Blackwell delves deep into the psyche of our enduring relationship with cats to provide a unique and exquisite insight into the gorgeous creatures that deign to share our lives and homes.
