Book 1: The Last Vampire. Book 2: Black Blood

Alisa Perne is the last vampire. Beautiful and brilliant, for five thousand years she has hunted alone, living among humans, living off humans. But somebody knows her secret - and they want her dead...

Surviving through countless centuries, Alisa is beautiful, strong and … deadly.

Alisa has long been hiding a dark and deadly secret, but it seems that someone is finally onto her. When a private investigator is hired to delve into Alisa s personal affairs, her shocking true age and untraceable fortune are uncovered.

Alisa does what she must and kills the investigator, but not before discovering who hired him. It is clear that an ancient evil the first vampire has returned. Alisa knows that his whole existence was her fault and she must, therefore, be the one to end his reign of slaughter …

About the Author

Born in 1961, and starting his writing career after leaving college, Pike did not set out to pen horror novels; he originally wanted to write adult mystery and science fiction, but had little luck getting his book proposals accepted. By chance, an editor at Avon Books read some of his writing and saw enough potential to suggest that the young writer try his hand at a teen thriller. The result was the 1985 novel Slumber Party. He wrote two follow-ups to Slumber Party: Weekend and Chain Letter.

By the time Chain Letter appeared, word-of-mouth had made all three books bestsellers and Pike was fast on the way to becoming a publishing phenomenon. While after 2000 Pike moved increasingly into adult novels and fantasy fiction such as the 2004 novel Alosha, his many teen novels continue to attract new fans.

Previous Books: Last Act, Spellbound, Gimme A Kiss, Remember Me trilogy, Scavenger Hunt, Fall into Darkness, See You Later, Witch, Master of Murder, Monster, Road to Nowhere, The Eternal Enemy, Die Softly, Bury Me Deep, Whisper of Death, Chain Letter, The Immortal, The Wicked Heart, The Midnight Club, The Final Friends trilogy, The Lost Mind, The Visitor, The Last Vampire 1-6.

Book was delivered in a timely fashion and in great condition.

Giving reviews is a waste of time, shops don't ask me to review every item I buy.

Comments about The Last Vampire and Black Blood:

I am not usually a vampire book fan, but I do enjoy fantasy, history and sci-fi. What caught my attention was the title 'Last' Vampire and secretly I rejoiced they were already dying out. I started reading the next day it arrived and I must admit, at first, the main character annoyed me.

She was too perfect; a beautiful intelligent immortal woman who is the most dangerous thing alive with no flaws (my main gripe about most vampire books) however Alisa grew on me and I found I could love and hate her at all times during the journey, she was cruel, cold blooded and yet troubled by her past and frightened for her future.

Some sensitive or dramatic events I felt moved too fast or weren't delved into more. Especially the lead boy 'brushing' of Alisa's dirty secret so easily. I know, if I was travelling with someone who took my most precious thing away from me without a forethought, well I know I certainly would not support them in the same chapter of discovering this bombshell.

Despite some minor dislikes for the story, I very much enjoyed it as a whole, especially the history behind the vampires and the unique style of how things happened.

Definitely a must read to those vampire fans or those, like me, giving a genre the benefit of the doubt. I could not put this book down until I had finished the first. A well written story and storyboard, well worth the read. I have put it down for now, to read and review a different book - but I look forward to reading the second installment soon.
