I bought this book for my daughter aged 6, she absolutely loves the story and the illustrations. The book is VERY well written and allows for expression when being read aloud. The text has rhythm and is rhyming. The story has a useful underlying message about confidence.

Grandson aged 8 months is enjoying the pictures and having it read daily to him. It is a sturdy board construction. He is exposed to books every day and this is currently his favourite

                      Comments about The Gruffalo:

We have been reading The Gruffalo to our son since he was five months old. He is now thirteen months and as soon as we start reading the first line "A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood…." he is grinning and clapping. This book is his favourite, the first one he goes to when we sit down to read. Would absolutely recommend it for babies and toddlers.

A clever, exuberant story in rhyme with strong, color-saturated pictures to match . . . This is a sure bet. (Booklist)

A rollicking good time. (School Library Journal)
