Enter the world of One Folgate Street and discover perfection . . . but can you pay the price?

For all fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl comes this spellbinding Hitchcockian thriller which takes psychological suspense to the next level.

Jane stumbles on the rental opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to live in a beautiful ultra-minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect, on condition she abides by a long list of exacting rules. After moving in, she discovers that a previous tenant, Emma, met a mysterious death there - and starts to wonder if her own story will be a re-run of the girl before. As twist after twist catches the reader off guard, Emma's past and Jane's present become inexorably entwined in this tense, page-turning portrayal of psychological obsession.

About the Author

The Girl Before is the first psychological thriller from JP Delaney, a pseudonym for a writer who has previously written bestselling fiction under other names. It is being published in thirty-five countries. A film version is being brought to the screen by Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard.

Comments about The Girl Before:

this was a great fast-paced book with a great premise. I thought the character development was a little lacking and I found the ending a little underwhelming. Certainly deserves a read and definitely enjoyable but just not what I was expecting based on the reviews.

    Comments about The Girl Before:

I was intrigued when I read the synopsis for this book. However, as I read I found that the writing wasn't particularly outstanding. The story itself is a great premise, the main characters were relatable to a point, it was just lacking something, I can't quite put my finger on it. The twist at the end was good but not completely unexpected, the way the story was told from two points of view was an interesting concept but I feel like the story was a bit flat, perhaps a bit too linear. I did end up reading it in a fairly short amount of time but it hasn't had me raving to my friends as some other novels have had me do lately. So you may enjoy it, if you like thrillers, or you may not. I think it is worth the read, or a good gift, I just don't have this book on my top ten favourites list.

I loved this book! The characters were so well developed and the storyline was fantastic. I love books that you don't expect the ending and that was certainly the case with this book.

        Comments about The Girl Before:

I was looking for a similar read to the likes of Sidney Shelton and found this one. It's not as intense but still a great read and I enjoyed the entwined stories of the two leading characters. A page turner til the end.

J.P. Delaney (whoever she or he actually is) gives us not just three extraordinary human characters - all of them, in their way, monsters of manipulation - but a house which becomes the book's fourth character. An uncomfortable place to live in every sense. - Australian Women's Weekly

This book is a thrilling read. The more you read the more the house takes on a personality of it's own. - The Big Book Club
