About The Author

The author of this book really likes:

old armchairs,

lovely sharp pencils,

the way trees look when their leaves fall off,

mayonnaise,

his unfashionable record collection,

and looking scruffy.

His first book, Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley, won the 2008 CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood and was shortlisted for the 2008 Crichton Award for New Illustrators and a 2008 NSW Premier's Literary Award. It was also included on the Smithsonian Institute's Notable Book List of 2008 in the USA.

His second picture book, Sunday Chutney, was shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year 2009: Picture Books and the Australian Book Industry Awards 2009: Young Children.

Stanley Paste, his third picture book, was published in 2009 to wide acclaim.

Comments about The Ghost of Miss Annabel Spoon:

I read this to my two year old and he loves it. Out of the hundreds of books he owns, this is a favorite. The verse rhyming is beautifully done, and the pictures are stunning.
