About The Authors

Dr Sue Shepherd is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian who specialises in the treatment of dietary intolerances. Since being diagnosed with coeliac disease, she has maintained a strong commitment to educating people with special dietary needs. Sue has self-published two gluten-free cookbooks, Irresisitibles for the Irritable and Two Irresistible for the Irritable, in addition to her successful Viking titles, Gluten-free Cooking and The Gluten-free Kitchen.

Dr Peter Gibson is a Professor of Medicine at Monash University, and Head of the Eastern Health Clinical School. He is Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for Eastern Health and is based at Box Hill Hospital, Melbourne. Peter has long-standing clinical and research interests in inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome, and has published extensively in these areas. He is a past president of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

This is a great book however I find that it contradicts itself a little bit in that it doesn't give a list of products which are high or low fodmap and some of the recipes seem to contain foods which are considered high fodmap such as celery. Pictures and recipes are great though and I think you need to exercise a bit of commonsense when using high fodmap foods in the recipes.

The information wasn't anything more you can find on google, and other reference books or professionals (dietician or doctor). So disappointed

              I have issues with intolerances to food. This book has been a great help in guidance on cooking. Recipes are also gluten free which is good as I have coeliac disease. It has a comprehensive list of foods to avoid and allowed to eat whilst on the low fodmap diet. Plus some great recipes.

                  It is an excellent book as I am needing to change my approach to food completely due to chronic food allergies!
                  The only issue is that there are not many recipes for vegetarians or vegans.

                    Dr Sue Shepherd is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian with fourteen years experience, has coeliac disease herself, and in 2008, completed her PhD research into aspects of fructose mal-absorption, celiac disease, low FODMAP diets and irritable bowel syndrome. Sue developed the 'Low FODMAP Diet' for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She has graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Promotion and post graduate Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics.
