The Food Intolerance Management Plan is a scientifically developed program and comprehensive recipe book for those suffering from common digestive illness.

Based on the revolutionary Low-FOBMAP Diet, it shows people with food intolerances how to enjoy their food while remaining free of the symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome and related conditions, such as gluten, fructose, lactose and wheat intolerances.

Authors Dr Sue Shepherd and Dr Peter Gibson are world leaders in the area. They explain the conditions that affect one in five Australians, and show readers how to:

  • recognise symptoms and seek appropriate medical advice
  • identify and avoid food likely to cause symptoms
  • shop and plan menus for the whole family
  • entertain, travel and eat out with peace of mind
With 80 delicious and easy-to-prepare recipes, including baked goods, desserts and spiced dishes, this is your one-stop guide to managing symptoms, feeling great and eating well.

Comments about The Food Intolerance Management Plan:

This is a great book however I find that it contradicts itself a little bit in that it doesn't give a list of products which are high or low fodmap and some of the recipes seem to contain foods which are considered high fodmap such as celery. Pictures and recipes are great though and I think you need to exercise a bit of commonsense when using high fodmap foods in the recipes.

Comments about The Food Intolerance Management Plan:

I have issues with intolerances to food. This book has been a great help in guidance on cooking. Recipes are also gluten free which is good as I have coeliac disease. It has a comprehensive list of foods to avoid and allowed to eat whilst on the low fodmap diet. Plus some great recipes.

Comments about The Food Intolerance Management Plan:

This book was a waste of money!! The recipe collection was tiny and not really suitable for more than one FODMAP requirement. Many of the recipes require expensive ingredients. The information wasn't anything more you can find on google, and other reference books or professionals (dietician or doctor). So disappointed

It is an excellent book as I am needing to change my approach to food completely due to chronic food allergies!
The only issue is that there are not many recipes for vegetarians or vegans.
I am using the book for information and as a basis of a totally new way of eating!

              Introduction

If you have a food intolerance, suffer the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome

(IBS) – abdominal pain and bloating, excessive wind and diarrhoea or constipation or both – and are sick of feeling unwell, then this is the book for you. Our Low-FODMAP Diet for IBS sufferers has transformed the lives of lots of people and could work for you. We'll explain what low-FODMAP means (see page 23) and how the diet works in great detail later, but for now here are some key points about the diet:

It is based on sound scientific research and has been scientifically proven.
It provides all the nutrients you need to stay healthy.
It can help you stay symptom-free in the long term – some people have stayed on the diet and lived symptom-free for months and even years.
It won't cure your IBS, but it will help to prevent triggering your symptoms.

If you have been troubled by IBS in the past, we feel confident that you will find great relief in following the Low-FODMAP Diet outlined in this book. Once you're up and running, you might need to keep referring to the book as you go, but with time the diet will become second nature to you. Soon you'll simply feel better than you ever did, without having to put too much eff ort into how. And using the recipes in this book will help make your process of adaptation to the diet much smoother.
