Is it possible to eat what you like, most of the time, and get thinner and healthier as you do it? Simple answer: yes.

From the authors of the #1 bestselling Fast Diet, this fabulous cookbook offers more than 150 carefully crafted, nutritious and low-calorie recipes to enable you to incorporate the 5:2 weight-loss system easily into your daily life.

Scientific trials have revealed that if you eat normally for five days a week but reduce your calorie intake for only two days, you will not only lose weight but potentially lower your risk of cancer, diabetes and other age-related diseases. In The Fast Diet Recipe Book, Dr Michael Mosley, the medical journalist whose BBC Horizon programme first alerted the world to the Intermittent Fasting phenomenon, and Mimi Spencer, award-winning food and fashion writer, offer a groundbreaking guide to following this diet in a safe, effective and sustainable way - you will never have to worry about planning your fast days again.

The recipe section contains a range of breakfast and supper dishes - all expertly balanced with plenty of protein and moderate complex carbohydrates - designed to fill you up and stave off the WC dreaded hunger pangs. There are also detailed menu plans and plenty of encouraging tips - including kitchen cupboard essentials, the latest nutritional advice, a user-friendly calorie counter, and a whole section of speedy meals that can be quickly made for those busier days.

This book is a specific book to follow up on Dr Michael Mosley's 'The 5:2 Diet Book'

The 5:2 diet is the result of research by the good doctor and assumes 5 days of normal food (assuming not KF) and 2 days of fasting. Need not be consecutive (Tues, Thurs for example). On fasting days men can eat 600 calories and women 500 calories. The recipes are fantastic, very modern and cosmopolitan. So fantastic that hubby is now cooking. Also you eventually get the idea of what type of food is going to keep you within the limit.

I love it and hubby who has become very determined to fit into a 12 year old suit is melting way! You really need something like this to help you see how you lost your way...

This book has given me a lot of new recipes and recipe ideas to use on "fast" days, which had been becoming a bit tedious. The British-specific ingredients (eg kippers, haddock, and brand-name products) are easily replaced with local equivalents. I would recommend this book to anyone following or considering trying the 5:2 diet.

This recipe book is attractively laid out with clear instructions how to use the system. Each recipe has its calorie count clearly marked, a small introduction and a titbit about the health properties of one of the ingredients.

The chapters are logical and the Meal Planner is a great sample for you to create your own. In the main the meals are simple and delicious although there are a few 'exotic' recipes some may find ingredients hard (or expensive) to obtain.

I found the Fast Diet book was excellent. Loosing weight was easier when used in conjunction with Fast Recipe book. There are plenty of delicious recipes to choose from making fasting days easier. I found the soups were more fulfilling for the evening meal.
Fast Exercise is still a work in progress, but going well.
