Mexico, the land of romance, where southern passion runs strong in the veins of men and women, provides the colourful setting of Wallace Q. Reid's story.
Flora Duncan, a young Scots girl, goes out to Mexico to marry her fiance Ian, a minding engineer. But when after an arduous journey she finally arrives at Expanza, Flora is met not by her lover but a dark-eyed southern beauty who explains that Ian is ill with fever and unable to meet her.
The two girls set out for Ian's home on horseback, but on the way they fall into the hands of bandits and begin a series of amazing adventures.
