About the Authors
Ron Bennetts was born in Yarloop, Western Australia. Following his education at Narembeen and Three Springs Primary Schools, Carnamah District High School and Christ Church Grammar, Ron completed a Bachelor of Economics and Diploma of Education at the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. He worked as a teacher and consultant for the Ministry of Education ( WA) before being appointed Manager, Information Services for the Australian Stock Exchange (Perth) Ltd. In 1996 he was appointed Manager of Western Australia for JB Were. In 1997 he was made a fellow of FINSIA in recognition of his contribution to the finance industry as a lecturer, examiner, State Concillor and radio commentator. He was also a partner of JB Were. In 2007 he joined Citi Smith Barney where he is responsible for looking after the needs of high-net-worth investors, superannuation funds and charitable funds.
Gavin Hegney was born in 1961. His life is ignited by two passions : One is surfing and the other is property. His first involvement in property was in 1979 when he commenced his working life as a cadet valuer with the State Government of Western Australia. From there he moved to private practice before establishing his current business Hegney Property Valuations in 1990. Today the firm values over 50,000 properties annually and Gavin offers his expert insights into the property market via television, radio and newspapers. The views he expresses in this book are a combination of theory and practical experience, which he hopes will allow the reader to gain greater understanding of the real estate market.
