About the Author

Before becoming a novelist, Kate Harrison worked for a news agency, reporting mainly for the national tabloids. She then moved to the BBC where she was a reporter in regional news in Bristol and Birmingham, producer on Newsround, and worked on Panorama and other investigative/consumer shows and documentaries. Kate is the author of eight novels, including the Secret Shopper series (Orion), and, most recently, The Boot Camp (Orion 2012). In 2011, Orion Children's Books published the first of her young adult trilogy, Soul Beach. Kate has written for national newspapers and magazines including the Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, Red and Cosmopolitan.

    She balances factual information with personal comment and anecdates from others following the diet. Her charts are very readable and her recipes have calorie counts on them. She presents an easy way of starting and continuing on this revolutionary diet which is changing lives around the world.
    I have bought copies for several friends and told many, many more about it.

        This book is a result of research by UK doctor, Michael Mosley. Great book for those who want to shed weight but I would suggest it is a sensible eating plan.

        The conclusion Dr Mosley came to is that the human race is genetically programmed to be hunter/gathers. Therefor the diet is called 5:2; the two indicating fasting days. So 5 days of usual food (assuming it's not KF or the like)and 2 days of dieting replicating the lifestyle of paleo man. The 2 days are great. They need not be consecutive. They can be Mon, Thurs for example. These days mean 600 calories for men and 500 calories for women. His wife has written a great book and now even hubby likes to follow recipes. It is called 'the fast diet recipe book' by Mimi Spencer with Dr Sarah Schenker. book
