A boy cursed with dangerous visions. A girl granted the powers to save him.

When Nadia's family moves to Captive's Sound, she immediately realises there's more to the place than meets the eye. Descended from witches, Nadia can sense that a spell has been cast over the tiny Rhode Island town - a sickness infecting everyone and everything in it. The magic at work is darker and more powerful than anything she's come across, and the person it has affected most is Mateo - her rescuer, friend and the guy she yearns to get closer to, even though he pushes her away.

Mateo's family have a tormented past and it soon becomes evident that Mateo is the next member of his family to be cursed, particularly when the strange dreams Mateo has been having of rescuing a beautiful girl from a car accident actually come true.

Despite the forces pulling them apart, Nadia and Mateo must work together to break his terrible family curse and prevent a coming disaster that threatens the entire town, including Nadia's family, her newfound friends and her own life.

Shimmering with magic and mystery, New York Times and number one bestselling author Claudia Gray's first book in a new trilogy depicts a dark and unforgettable world of witches, curses, buried secrets and star-crossed romance.

This book is yet another great one by Claudia Gray. The topic is original and steers clear of clichés that a lot of 'magic' books posses.

Comments about Spellcaster:

Amazing author, love her books. This one was in the perspective of a narrator and in more than one persons perspective instead of just one person, but Claudia Gray made it work, definitely a book I would read again and again, especially since it's a series of 3 books love when authors write more than one!

Claudia Gray

In her own words...

Claudia Gray is not my real name. I didn't choose a pseudonym because my real name is unpleasant (it isn't), because I'd always dreamed of calling myself this (I haven't) or even because I'm hiding from the remnants of that international diamond-smuggling cartel I smashed in 2003 (Interpol has taken care of them). In short, I took a pseudonym for no real reason whatsoever. Sometimes this is actually the best reason to do things.

I am a full-time novelist based in Chicago. So far, in life, I've been a disc jockey, a lawyer, a journalist and an extremely bad waitress, just to name a few. I especially like to spend time traveling, hiking, reading and listening to music. More than anything else, I enjoy writing.

Although I'll blog about major announcements at this site, you can also check my LiveJournal, MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter to hear more frequent updates about my work, my day and whatever else might be on my mind.
