From the internationally bestselling author of Hotel Kerobokan and co-author of Schapelle Corby's autobiography, this is the incredible inside account of Bali's hidden drug world.

It's snowing in Bali. Among Bali's drug dealers it's the code for a huge cocaine shipment having just landed. For the men who run the country's drug empires, it's time to get rich and party hard.

Snowing in Bali is the story of the drug trafficking and dealing scene that's made Bali one of the world's most important destinations in the global distribution of narcotics. With its central location to the Asia Pacific market, its thriving tourist industry to act as cover for importation, and a culture of corruption that can easily help law enforcement turn a blind eye, Bali has long been a paradise for traffickers as well as for holiday-makers.

Kathryn Bonella, bestselling author of Hotel Kerobokan, has been given extraordinary access into the lives of some of the biggest players in Bali's drug world, both past and present. She charts their rise to incredible wealth and power, and their drug-fuelled lifestyles, filled with orgies, outrageous extravagance and surfing. But running international drug empires in Bali can also be a highly risky business, with terrible consequences for those caught and convicted.

Since studying journalism at RMIT in Melbourne, Kathryn Bonella has worked as a journalist in television and print. She moved to London eighteen months after graduating and spent several years freelancing for 60 Minutes as well as numerous English and American television programs, magazines and newspapers. She returned to Australia in 2000 to work as a full-time producer for 60 Minutes.

She moved to Bali in 2005 to research and write Schapelle Corby's autobiography, My Story, and then Hotel Kerobokan and now Snowing in Bali.

          Comments about Snowing in Bali:

This book was amazing, having travelled to Bali several times, it was eye-opening. I was amazed by the fact that it is not the island paradise of Bali I have enjoyed. Those that have travelled and those that are thinking of going, enjoy the read but don't let it hamper your views. However it is amazing that people still try (some succeed) to smuggle drugs into Bali. thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so i am now reading Hotel Kerobokan by the same author...

                    Comments about Snowing in Bali:

I loved this book! Bonella's previous title, Hotel Kerobokan, was fascinating for the dark, seedy underworld of the jail it revealed. Snowing in Bali is just as mesmerising through its contrast of the drug underworld with the millionaire-playboy lifestyle. Dark yet flash & fun at the same time.

The main star you follow is Rafael - the most charismatic drug dealer you're likely to come across, and his charm really comes through the page. I really like the guy and wish him all the best for the future. You cheer for him the whole way through and breathe a few heavy sighs of relief!

It features many others from the Bali drug scene (dealers, horses, users and more) - some alluring, some horrible - all terrific to read about. The book has a wonderful mix of stories, some interesting fates tied together, and a great expose on a world so far removed from many of us.
