My eight-year-old son loves this series. He's a real bookworm, and he's gone through a very keen Brotherband phase. He loves the swashbuckling action and adventure. He was delighted to discover the author's signature on his copy.

            Comments about Slaves of Socorro:

I wasn't expecting another Brotherband book, so 'Slaves of Socorro' was a really awesome surprise.
I love (and have) all of John Flanagan's Rasnger's Apprentice (RA) and Brotherband (BB) books, and this one is definitely worth reading and re-reading. There was not much action in the first three-quarters of the book, but the last quarter was really action-packed!
John Flanagan has once again written a great book that you can't put down until you finish it!

Booktopia does it again offering a signed copy by Aussie author John Flanagan. Slaves of Socorro is the fourth book of the Brotherband original 'trilogy' and continues the range with swashbuckling adventure best suited to younger readers who have been with the series from book 1.

I really like how he writes. It is engaging, humorous, exciting, entertaining. Never drags.
My problem is I keep comparing it to "Ranger's Apprentice", and that series is my first "love" in his books. However, this is a close second. LOVE his books. Writes extremely well. Always fun.
