Please note the pages on this book have been produced with bevelled or rough edge to create an old style look. The publisher has deliberately chosen to produce the book this way.

In a stunningly presented, atmospheric and beautiful book, Victoria Alexander (ex Bathers Pavilion fame) explores the positive aspects of living alone, and loving it; of being alone, but not lonely. Statistics show that 30% of the population live alone: without a partner though choice; through divorce; or after being widowed. This is an affirming, inspiring celebration and affirmation of individuality, of self, is written with thoughtfulness and humour.

One is not a memoir: the stories, quotes, insights and reflections are presented in a general, accessible, broadly applicable style that will appeal directly to any reader. The evocative text is supported by gorgeous photographs and an, organic, textural and layered design treatment. The photographs are also by the author, who outside of her 'food' life is a painter and photographer, and has worked for many years as a stylist and location scout for magazines, film and television.

    Comments about One:

Beautifully presented and intelligently written I was smitten with this book as soon as I opened the parcel. I then bought 3 more as gifts for family and friends, knowing it would be an inspiration.

      Comments about One:

I couldn't put this book down. There is so much good advice in it, and even hope for the future. I keep it beside my bed for times when I feel despondent.
It is lovely to look at and to hold. So inspirational.
Can't find anything bad to say.
