The twenty-first Jack Reacher thriller by number-one bestselling author Lee Child

In the morning, they gave Reacher a medal. And in the afternoon, they sent him back to school. Night School takes Reacher back to his army days, but this time he's not in uniform.

With trusted sergeant Frances Neagley at his side, he must carry the fate of the world on his shoulders, in a wired, fiendishly clever new adventure that will make the cold sweat trickle down your spine.

I'm a massive "Jack Reacher" fan, have read them all & collected almost all, but was somewhat disappointed with this one.
It's a great story, an easy read & well written in the usual Lee Child style, but the hero could have been anyone. It just didn't have that "Reacher" flavour for me. Very light on action for a "Reacher" tale.
I realise it was set way back when, possibly before he'd "evolved"(?) but where was the "all guns blazing" Jack that we've become used to??
Please bring him back next time, Mr Child.
Overall: Good, but no cigar !!..........well, certainly not a Cohiba or Montecristo.

    Comments about Night School:

Nothing better than reading a book, not into i-pad or kindel. It's that moment when you turn the page to see what, or how Jack is going to get out of his next situation. Never a dull moment with at least 3 twists and turns involved.

      Comments about Night School:

Not up to usual suspense levels for me.I found it difficult to get to the end and even that was dissapointing and I love reading Jack Reacher.
Have lost a little of my passion for him since Tom Cruise was in the movie.

          Comments about Night School:

Hmmm! Time travel. Back to before the beginning. Suppose it works, but smells of desperation. Have noticed some desperation in the last couple of these Jack Reacher novels.
How much further can you stretch one idea. I guess I will just have to keep buying to find out.

A younger Jack Reacher leads you through the haze of a unified 90's Germany chasing something ominous...fast paced, but not the expense of a subtle and sophisticated plot...

"I know I say this every year...But. Best. Reacher. Ever." -- Karin Slaughter

                    Lee Child

Lee Child was born in 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham. By coincidence he won a scholarship to the same high school that JRR Tolkien had attended. He went to law school in Sheffield, England, and after part-time work in the theatre he joined Granada Television in Manchester for what turned out to be an eighteen-year career as a presentation director during British TV's "golden age." During his tenure his company made Brideshead Revisited, The Jewel in the Crown, Prime Suspect, and Cracker.

But he was fired in 1995 at the age of 40 as a result of corporate restructuring. Always a voracious reader, he decided to see an opportunity where others might have seen a crisis and bought six dollars' worth of paper and pencils and sat down to write a book, Killing Floor, the first in the Jack Reacher series. Killing Floor was an immediate success and launched the series which has grown in sales and impact with every new instalment.

Lee has three homes - an apartment in Manhattan, a country house in the south of France, and whatever air-plane cabin he happens to be in while travelling between the two. In the US he drives a supercharged Jaguar, which was built in Jaguar's Browns Lane plant, thirty yards from the hospital in which he was born.

Lee spends his spare time reading, listening to music, and watching the Yankees, Aston Villa, or Marseilles soccer. He is married with a grown-up daughter. He is tall and slim, despite an appalling diet and a refusal to exercise.
