Motorcycle stories of brotherhood, demons, dirt and danger.
Whether you're into dirt bikes, road bikes, ride a Yamaha, scooter or Laverda: if you've ever experienced the primal rush of riding a motor bike, the pain of crashing, the suffering of healing and the epiphanies of speed then this book is for you.
MY MOTHER WARNED ME ABOUT BLOKES LIKE ME is about friendship, treachery, girls in tight pants and motorcycles that have been possessed by Satan.
It s about brotherhood, camaraderie, drugs, alcohol and being hounded by the police for daring to combine them all at once. It s about breaking the law, and racing 1000 kilometres through the night for money and thrills. It s about thalidomide dwarves being molested by fighting dogs, massive amputations, bovine stupidity, maniacal genius and the wisdom of the old.
It s about chance and fate and suffering, being two people at once and being handcuffed in a Melbourne gutter. It s about being cold and crazy and hopeful and irredeemably lost. It s about impossible highs and soul-crushing lows, about demons and brothers and dirt and danger, and houses with iron bars instead of glass in their windows.
Essentially it s about Boris Mihailovic s life. With motorcycles.
About the Author
Boris Mihailovic has racked up quite a following during his various editing tenures at ACP as well as from his freelance contributions to a host of titles, including Top Gear, Australian Motorcycle News, FHM and Men s Style.
Larger than life, loud yet surprisingly genteel when the situation demands, erudite, bombastic, family minded, heavily tattooed and scary looking (yet a pussycat when it comes to his wife and son) and a former outlaw biker, Boris is many things to many people.
If there is a constant in any of this, it s his love of motorcycles and the passion he has for the two-wheeled life is the sole reason he has amassed quite a following in Australia and in territories beyond. At the Philip Island Moto GP, for one striking example, Boris gets swamped by fans right down to being asked to sign his autograph on programs and, occasionally, women s breasts .
Boris lives in Sydney.

Comments about My Mother Warned Me About Blokes Like Me:
This book is an all round good read. The author has a great way of telling a yarn which draws you in and makes you not want to stop reading until you've finished that particular story. I'm a bike rider and can identify with all the tales in this book. I lent it to a non bikerider who thouroughly enjoyed it and said he had tears of laughter all the way through.

Comments about My Mother Warned Me About Blokes Like Me:
I really loved this book. Boris understands the thrill of motorcycling and reading the book took me back to a time when fluro was a highlighter colour and not a uniform.
His telling of some of his stories and entertaining writing style had me laughing like a lunatic and I can't wait for his next offering. A++++++
