Murgatroyd was happy when his parents finally gave up trying to wash his hair … until a magnificent garden began to grow on his head.

Murgatroyd hated, hated, hated having his hair washed. When his parents tried his screams were so loud they could be heard everywhere! So they stopped washing his hair, and a magnificent garden began to grow on his head.

About the Author

Originally from New Zealand, Judy’s father was working in India when she was born, and his work took the family to a number of countries. Travelling so much as children was rare at that time and books became both solace and refuge for Judy. She later married and had two sons, Zolton and Zachary, who were the inspiration for Murgatroyd’s Garden. Along the way, Judy worked in advertising and publishing before retraining for her first love: teaching English to adult migrants. She has two adorable granddaughters who she hopes will inspire her to write more children’s books.

    Comments about Murgatroyd's Garden:

A lovely story that I have wanted to own since first borrowing it from my local library many years ago. Beautiful drawings and a fun story to show consequences for children.
