About the Author
Sylvie Hooghe is passionate about beads, and she and her sister Christine have written numerous books on making jewellery using rock and crystal beads. Sylvie lives in Marseilles in the South of France where she works as a prop artist and designer for book publishers and theatres. As well as jewellery making, she has also written books on creative activities for children.
This is a captivating book with many ideas for a range of ages from teens to more mature beaders. Lots of inspiration and many projects dealing not only with pearls, but buttons, felt, threads and wirework; funky to chic and many in between. Originally published in France, this may account for some strange and novel ideas and instructions. I don't recommend looking for bicone or facetted pearls, crimping nylon thread or even threading pearls on embroidery cotton, and I don't think this is a book for an inexperienced beader. That said, I did enjoy the book and thought it well worth the modest cost.-Carol Stevenson (Bead Society of Great Britain)
