Imogen Bates moved to the small rural town of Gibson's Find to start a new life for herself after the death of her husband. Tired of being haunted by the painful memories of her old life, Imogen set her last remaining hopes on the little town and, in particular, pouring her heart and savings into restoring The Majestic Hotel to its former glory. But while the female-starved town might be glad to see a young woman move in, not everyone is happy about Imogen's arrival.

Sheep and crop farmer Gibson Black once dreamed of having the kind of family his grandfather reminisces about, but he's learnt not to dream anymore. Living in the mostly male town suits Gibson down to the ground...and he won't have anyone - least of all a hot redhead from the city - change a thing.

Imogen has never been one to back down from a challenge, especially when it concerns her last chance at happiness. She's determined to rebuild the pub and create a future for the little town. But can she create a future for Gibson and herself, too?

About the Author

Rachael Johns is an English teacher by trade, a mum 24/7, a supermarket owner by day, a chronic arachnophobic, and a writer by night. She rarely sleeps. Rachael received The Call from Angela James telling her Carina wanted to publish her book on April Fools Day and, when she told her friends, half of them wondered if it was a big joke. Luckily it wasn't. Since then, she's sold another book to Carina Press, Stand-In Star (coming 2013) and one to Harlequin Australia, Jilted (released June 2012).

As an active member of Romance Writers of Australia, Rachael has finaled and placed in a number of romance writing contests. Each success is uplifting and publication is her dream but even if none of this had ever happened, she'd still write. It's a much better option than ironing, which she refuses to partake in. Ever.

    Comments about Man Drought:

My reading is my time out and I love to really get into the Characters role of the book. I found man drought so moving at times I had to blot my eyes for tears and the book ended leaving me wanting to read on and see what the future had to offer for the characters. What a great book!

                  Comments about Man Drought:

As I enjoyed Jilted, Rachael John's debut contemporary rural romance novel published in 2012, I have been eagerly awaiting her next release and I am pleased to report that I found Man Drought a charming and delightful read.
I thought the writing very accomplished, in many ways each of the main elements of the story - plot, character and setting, are much stronger in Man Drought than in Jilted. I enjoyed John's humour and the way in which she captures the natural rhythm of Australian speech in her dialogue. The pacing is just right and all the threads lead to a happy and satisfying conclusion.

Man Drought is a heartwarming, well crafted contemporary romance with appealing characters and engaging story

                  Rachael Johns

An English teacher by trade, a supermarket owner by day, a mum 24/7, and a writer by night. That’s some of the ingredients that make up one of the most successful Romance Writers in Australia, Rachael Johns.

In a relatively short space of time, Rachael has shown herself a force to be reckoned with, helping to bolster a new movement in Australian Romance writing.

At 17 she began writing, enlightened by the thought that she could create whatever ending she liked, and almost a decade later, after many, many attempts at writing different types of novels, she joined the Romance Writers of Australia association.

It was there that Rachael learnt there was more to writing a book than just typing out random thoughts. She learnt about the craft, conflict, consistent characters, etc, and also discovered that she loved contemporary romance.

She lives in rural Western Australia with her husband and their three children.
