Pigs were once known as "mortgage lifters", a term that endeared them to small farmers everywhere. Even today, you can write and cash a cheque on a piece of pigskin. Whether you want a pig on your property for pleasure or profit, small scale or large, this is the book you must have.
From the first consideration of choosing a breed to putting bacon and sausages on the table, this approachable and authoritative guide covers every facet of raising pigs. What are the advantages of raising pigs small-scale? What does it take in terms of resources, time, shelter, feed, healthcare?
All these questions and more are dealt with by Hasheider, in step-by-step, down to earth writing, for a hobby, a business, or just to have one or two porcine characters around the farmyard. Also included is a glossary of terms, list of resources, and information about pork organizations, regulations, ordinances.

Comments about How to Raise Pigs:
I haven't finished reading this book because I bought it for general information only - not for the purpose of buying and raising pigs. However the book is an easy read and contains good general information.
