Ordering a Magazine Subscription

Magazines subscriptions may only be delivered to an Australian address however you may have an overseas Billing Address.

Please refer to How are magazines delivered? for more information on addresses for the delivery of your subscription.

Magazine Subscriptions include all delivery and handling fees in the Subscription price.

Only 1 subscription of a given magazine may be included on an order however different magazines may be ordered at the same time e.g. you may order 1 Vogue and 1 Marie Claire on the same order however to order 2 subscriptions of Vogue will require 2 separate orders.

You can include Magazine and other items available on our site on the same order however the rules requiring an Australian Shipping Address and the limitations on one Subscription of a magazine per order will still apply.

Once you have finalised your order you will receive an Order Confirmation email. Please check the details again and contact Customer Service as soon as possible if there are any issues.

We will also send another reminder after two weeks that your magazine subscription is being processed however in some cases you may already have received the first instalment of your subscription.

Magazine Delivery Timelines

For magazine subscriptions, please note the following expected delivery times to receive your first issue:

For weekly magazines please allow up to two to four weeks for your first delivery.

For magazines with 11 to 13 issues per year please allow up to four to six weeks for your first delivery.

For magazines with 6 to 10 issues per year please allow up to six to eight weeks for your first delivery.

For international magazines please allow up to ten to twelve weeks for your first delivery.

Magazine deliveries are handled by each of our publishing partners who have developed systems to ensure that the title arrives on time. Express Post delivery is not available for Magazine subscriptions.

Please note that we will not be able to advise on the progress to deliver the first issue of your subscription.

If you have not yet received your first issue please wait until the standard waiting times for your magazines has passed before contacting Booktopia.

Most queries will require us to contact the distributor and/or the publisher so it may take 24-48 hours (weekdays) before we can provide advice of resolution.

When will my subscription start / when will I receive my first issue?

I already subscribe to the magazine just purchased - what can I do?

We can add on the new subscription you just purchased to your existing subscription - e.g. a 2 x 12 month subscriptions will become 1 x 24 month subscription, or added to whatever portion is remaining on your existing subscription.

To request this please log into My Account and send a message via the message centre and we will confirm this once completed.

Can I change the address the magazine is being sent to?

Yes. If the subscription order details have not yet been processed by the distributor then we can simply update the address.

If the subscription has already been processed by the distributor then we can still change the address however as many publishers pre-label the issues ahead of time this change can take 2 - 4 weeks to come into effect. Please ensure you have made suitable arrangements to re-direct or collect mail during this time. Booktopia will not be able to replace lost or missing titles.

To request this please log into My Account and send a message via the message centre. Clearly highlight the new address you would like the subscription to be sent to (this must be Australian address) and we will confirm this once the change has been requested.

Can I cancel my subscription?

You have a "1 business day cooling off period" to cancel your order if the delivery times are not suitable or you have changed your mind, to receive a full refund. After 1 business day all orders are a firm sale.

If you change your mind we are not able to offer a refund for cancellation or a change to another title. If the subscription order details have not yet been processed by the distributor then we may cancel the subscription and provide a store credit for the value of the subscription.

You may still cancel a subscription at a later time however you will not receive a store credit for the remaining value of your subscription. Please contact Customer Service if you have any further questions about this.

Please note magazines are not are not returnable or refundable.

Why didn't I receive the gift or promotional product on the newsstand edition with this month's issue?

Publishers generally don't give subscribers the same Gifts with Purchase and promotional items as newsstand purchases as the subscribers are already receiving the magazine at a discount.

Gifts or promotional items are often bulky and won't go through the postal network in the same packaging or without issues. Furthermore gifts and promotional items are limited stock and therefore won't be available due to the time delay between when an order is placed on the Booktopia site and when processed by the publisher.

However, some publishers may still offer gifts or promotional items for subscribers but this isn't information that we receive.

I didn't receive this week/month's issue?

If your magazine hasn't arrived or you think it may be running late please contact Customer Service and we will investigate any issues you may have.

How are magazines delivered?

Each publisher is responsible for the fulfilment of their respective magazines. Publishers specialise in delivering magazines efficiently meaning that they will distribute from locations Australia wide.

Magazines are delivered by Australia Post, to your street address or PO Box along with all other mail.

Newspapers are hand delivered to your street address by a local delivery agent and they require a street address to deliver the newspaper to. PO boxes are not accepted for delivery of Newspapers.
