The Booktopia account you create will also provide you with access to all of following information:
Providing a day-time telephone number as part of your personal information allows us to quickly contact you regarding your order if required.
If you have forgotten your password, Booktopia will send you a temporary password to your email which you can use to reset your password.
If at any time you wish to make changes to the following:
Click on the link below to update your account details. You will be asked to first sign in.
Yes, you can log in to My Account and find out the status of your order. Once you have logged in just click on the order number you wish to check on and the following screen will give a status of each title and whether it has been shipped, waiting in the warehouse, still on its way from our supplier, not yet published, or any other appropriate status associated to it.
Yes, of course you can. We have a Call Centre Team in our Sydney headquarters answering emails and phone calls every working day. When you are logged in to My Account and in the specific order in question you can use your Message Centre to correspond with our team and ask where the order is up to. Alternatively, our team are available to take phone calls from customers from 9 am to 4 pm each working day.
Follow the following instructions to place an online order
Please note: for any orders where the payment selection was a funds transfer or being mailed to Booktopia in the form of a cheque or money order then the order can not be processed until the monies have been received and the funds have been cleared in our account.
Once you have submitted an order via our website, we want to keep you informed of your order status as it makes its way through our dispatch process.
To do this, the following confirmation emails will be sent to the email address used to setup your account:
Of course if you have any questions on your order along the way, such as you wish to confirm the availability of any of the titles on your order, please feel free to Contact Us.
Booktopia offers a gift-wrapping service. All items in your shopping cart will be included in gift-wrapping calculations and will be wrapped separately. The cost for gift-wrapping is $4.00 per item.
If you would like to have your gift sent directly to the recipient you can nominate a different shipping address to your billing address. As we cannot split an order, we can only nominate one gift recipient address for each order.
If would like to send multiple recipients gift wrapped items, you will need to submit a separate order for each recipient.
We do not currently have the facility to automatically include a message, however feel free to contact customer service to discuss any message you would like included.
Yes, Booktopia's Customer Service team can assist you to place an order and pay over the phone. However the pricing displayed on our website is for orders submitted via the website only.
Orders placed by phone, fax, in person or by mail order which require hand processing by our Booktopia staff will be charged the full RRP prices quoted on the website, plus a $10 non-refundable administration fee.
If you simply wish to pay for an order you have submitted via the website using the non-immediate payment option, please contact us with your credit details and have your order number ready.
Booktopia will only allow you to make changes to your order within 1 business day of the original order being placed. We are unable to combine multiple orders after the payment for the first order is processed. Please message us using the Message Centre or call Customer Service with the ISBN of the book that you would like to add to, or update, your order.
The Shipping Address of each individual order is entered during the check-out process.
If you wish to change or make a correction to the shipping address of an order that you have submitted you will need to contact our Customer Service Team by phone (see Contact Us) or via the Message Centre.
Depending on the status of the order in our dispatch process we will be able to advise you on what steps we can take to accommodate your request.
If you have already received the automated Shipment Notification email, then unfortunately it is too late to make any address changes.
Please telephone if you have not received a response within 24 hours of making your request.
Many customers place orders from the one email address for themselves and the companies, school or organisation that they work for. In doing so you can be invoiced personally or the company or organisation you represent. If you wish to place a new order and have a different Addressee and Billing Address on the Booktopia Invoice please follow the steps below:
Booktopia currently accepts cards: VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, and VISA Debit. We also accept PayPal (Click here for more detailed information on how to pay with PayPal).
Other payment methods we accept include cheque, money order, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and direct deposit.
All of the payment methods mentioned are available for selection during the online checkout process.
A credit card is only charged after the Booktopia order processing team has confirmed availability.
Items that are no longer available will be removed from the website and excluded from your processed order and therefore you will not be charged for them.
If any delays are discovered on a particular title at the time of processing, you will be contacted via the message centre or by an "Action Item" in your Booktopia account with details of the options available to you. If you agree to a longer delivery time, your credit card will be charged at the time of confirmation.
When you choose to pay with PayPal, you will be redirected to the PayPal login screen where you can either log into your existing PayPal account, or sign up as a new PayPal user.
You will then be asked to confirm your shipping address and payment details before submitting your order, and being returned to the Booktopia website to show your Booktopia Order confirmation number.
This process will pre-authorise your PayPal payment to Booktopia.
The authorisation line will appear in your PayPal account. There will be a second line once Booktopia has captured the funds from your account.
Booktopia is only able to access your PayPal account once. If a title on your order is found to be not readily available we will process any other titles on your order and capture the funds required to cover the readily available titles. The remaining amount will be returned to your PayPal account and you will be contacted via the message centre in your Booktopia account with the options available to you. If you reply stating that you are happy with an extended delay, Booktopia will send you a "Money Request" via your PayPal account. PayPal will send you an email informing you of this. You will need to login to your PayPal account to see the money request on your account page. All you need to do is click on the "Pay" button. Once we have received the funds from PayPal the title/s will be ordered.
PayPal transaction authorisations only last 30 days. If Booktopia has not captured your payment within this time, we will require another payment from you. You will be contacted if this is required.
Postage costs $6.50 per order for parcel mail with tracking for anyone with an Australian delivery address.
Order as many items as you want and it is only $6.50 per order. If some items are in stock and others need to be ordered in or are Not Yet Published, then Booktopia may have to make multiple shipments. There is NO EXTRA COST to you, the customer, if Booktopia chooses to do this; the price you pay is still a flat fee of $6.50 even if we have to make multiple shipments. If you are overseas but delivering to an Australian address it is still only $6.50.
Booktopia uses the best quality packing material to protect items for the journey from Booktopia's distribution centre to its customers with the intention that they arrive in the same condition they left the Distribution Centre.
To upgrade your order to Express Post, a further $8.50 is charged for the first 3 kg (i.e. regular shipping $6.50 + $8.50 = $15) and a further $15 per extra 3 kg if required. Please call Customer Service Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm AEST, to request Express Post after placing your order.
Booktopia can only Express Post once the items are received into our Distribution Centre.
Booktopia uses UPS and NZ Mail to deliver orders to international delivery addresses and you will be charged accordingly based on the number of items of your order and the location for it to be shipped to. After you have placed your order, please send a message via the message centre in your Booktopia account with the telephone number and email address of the recipient to prevent any delays to delivery.
| REGION | 1st Item | Cost per extra item |
Courier |
| NZ ** | $30.50 | $10.00 | UPS / NZ Mail |
| USA/CANADA | $38.50 | $10.00 | UPS |
| ASIA | $54.50 | $10.00 | UPS |
| UK/EUROPE | $54.50 | $10.00 | UPS |
** PO Boxes and Locked Bags acceptable for NZ addresses only
Please note that occasionally countries may charge the recipient duties on the 'import' of packages. As these charges are the responsibility of the recipient, please check the customs service in your destination country to see if charges are applicable. Booktopia will not reimburse customers on these import costs or refund if a customer refuses to pay them or accept delivery due to these unforeseen instances.
From time-to-time Booktopia emails Free Shipping Offers to its customers. You cannot find these offers on our site and they are only available to existing Booktopia customers. You are permitted at the time to pass the code on to your friends and colleagues. They generally are on offer for a short period and much appreciated by our customers.
"Why don't we have free shipping all the time?"
A great question! Everybody who offers free shipping on their website has included the price of the shipping in each item. So if you would like to order 7 books, 3 DVDs and a calendar in one order then on any other website, 11 items multiplied by a few dollars for shipping equals $33. Whereas Booktopia's standard flat rate of $6.50 per order for as many items as you want works out to be a pretty good deal.
So when Booktopia sends you a Free Shipping Offer as an existing customer it truly is free of any shipping charges to you and Booktopia is picking up the tab.
The Booktopia Shipping Notification email is your confirmation that your parcel has been dispatched from the Booktopia Distribution Centre. It also contains your Australia Post Tracking Number.
Average Delivery Times (as per Australia Post Information)
| Sydney Metro | 1-2 Business days |
| NSW Country Areas | 1-3 Business days |
| Metro: Brisbane; Melbourne; Canberra | 2 Business Days |
| Metro: Adelaide; Hobart | 3 Business Days |
| VIC/SA/QLD Country Areas | 3-5 Business days |
| Metro: Perth; Darwin | 4-5 Business days |
| WA/NT/TAS Country Areas | 5-9 Business days (Booktopia's Experience) |
These can vary, especially during peak times so please allow for delivery times when ordering titles that are required for a gift or a specific date.
Please note that if your order is placed during one of our "SALE" periods, dispatch for In-Stock items can be delayed due to increased volume of orders.
If you have selected Pick Up during the order process, you will receive a "Ready For Pick Up" email letting you know your order is ready for collection.
For our address and opening hours of our Lane Cove West Head Office, see Contact Us.
Click here to sign in to your account to check if your parcel is ready to be collected.
For shipments within Australia, during the order process you can nominate if your item can be left at your delivery address without a signature. A free text of 100 characters is provided so you can enter specific delivery instructions. If you do not nominate this option, Australia Post will leave a notification card and you will also receive an email from Australia Post letting you know where your parcel is.
Please note deliveries of $80 in value will automatically require signature on receipt.
If your shipping address is correct and you have not received your package or a notification card within an appropriate time frame, please login to your Booktopia Account to retrieve your Australia Post tracking number and check on http://austpost.com.au/track for a status update, or call Australia Post Customer Service on 13 13 18.
You can also find your tracking number in the Shipping Notification email for your order or in My Account. Click here to sign in and retrieve your number.
If you have tracked and checked for your parcel and believe it to be lost, you will need to contact the Booktopia Customer Service team (see Contact Us) within fifteen days of dispatch in order for a store credit or refund (if applicable) to be issued.
If the package has the correct delivery information and has been deemed 'lost' after an Australia Post investigation, Booktopia will replace the items or issue a store credit if the replacement copies will not arrive in time. If Booktopia is unable to source a replacement copy due to the title no longer being available for whatever reason, a refund will be processed for the unavailable title and postage if applicable. You must contact Booktopia within six (6) weeks of dispatch, if your package has not arrived otherwise no store credit or refund (if applicable) will be available.
Please note that many of our Booktopia customers inform us that their Australia Post Redirections often do not work with packages. Booktopia will not be responsible for replacing goods or extra costs if a redirection has not been successful, or Australia Post has not followed the delivery instructions given. If you are moving, please contact Customer Service before you move to ensure a current order has the updated details to minimise delays.
To dispatch your order to you as quickly as possible we will first send the in-stock items from our Distribution Centre. We then consolidate all the other items on your order as we receive them into our Distribution Centre.
The maximum time we will hold a title in our warehouse waiting for the other titles to arrive is 6 days. Once 6 days have passed we will ship what we have at that time.
Unfortunately not, as the majority of deliveries are handled by domestic postal services, we cannot offer a definitive time or date for when deliveries will be made.
Read Delivery Expectation times here.
Yes, our parcels are sent nationally via the Australia Post eParcel Service. International orders are trackable via either, UPS or FedEx. The Shipping Notification confirmation email contains your tracking number and it is also stored in your account.
See Tracking your Parcel for more details or click here to sign in to retrieve your tracking number
Once your order has been dispatched from our Distribution Centre, you will receive a Shipping Notification confirmation email. The email contains your shipping number for the order. The number can entered at http://austpost.com.au/track where an update on your order delivery status is provided by Australia Post. Click here to see Delivery Expectations for timeframes. Click here to sign in to your account and retrieve your tracking number.
Dispatch times from the Booktopia Distribution Centre vary depending on where an item is located. If an item is in stock at our Lane Cove Distribution Centre then it will ship very quickly. If it needs to be sourced from an Australian or overseas publisher then it can take a week or even a bit longer depending on stock availability at the time. Once you have received the Shipping Notification confirmation email, refer to the Delivery Expectations section.
Please note that if your order is placed during a "sale" period, dispatch times for in stock items can be delayed due to increased volume of orders.
If you have selected Pick Up during the order process, you will receive a "Ready for Pick Up" email letting you know your order is ready for collection.
Please wait until you have received the notification before making the trip. We would not want you to make the trip to our Lane Cove - Sydney office only to be advised your order is not available to collect.
Click here to sign in and see if your order is ready for collection.
When puchasing an item from our website, you can check the Stock Availability on the individual Product Information Page.
The classifications used are:
The estimated dispatch time on the Product Information pages are supplied to Booktopia's website via a stock availability from our suppliers. Occasionally a supplier can give us incorrect information. If this happens we will update you as soon as we receive an update from the supplier.
If the stock level is unknown, you are welcome to call or contact us via our Message Centre with the ISBN of the book before you place your order so we can provide an estimate of the delivery time frame.
When the availability of a title is unknown but you would still like to order it, our Ordering System will request confirmation that you would like to proceed with the order. Our Ordering Team would have investigated all options to source the title and believe there is a high probability that we can source it for you. Even if you have contacted Booktopia to verify its availability you will still be required to log in and confirm that you wish to proceed. Your patience on this matter is appreciated as we do our best to try and source these hard-to-get titles.
Pre-order items mean they are are not yet published or released but are available for you to purchase now. Most of the popular titles are already pre-ordered by Booktopia for stock and if you order one of these then your order will be allocated from this initial allotment. A pre-ordered item can only be dispatched to you on the item's publication or release date or shortly thereafter.
If items are not readily available our Order Processing Team will endeavour to contact you via the message centre or via 'Action Items' in your Booktopia account to discuss the delivery time frame for these items.
After you place your order we will research where best to source the title(s). You will receive an email requesting you Sign In to your account to view the delivery expectations for your order.
You have a "1 business day cooling off period" to cancel your order if the delivery times are not suitable or you have changed your mind, to receive a full refund. After 1 business day all orders are firm sale.
If the expected delivery times are too long, (eg. for a birthday present), then please discuss your requirements with Booktopia staff before cancelling as we may be able to fast track your order.
You must call Booktopia Customer Service on 02 9954 1080, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm AEST to cancel within 1 business day for a full refund.
If you do not contact Booktopia by phone within the "1 business day cooling off period" you will be entitled to a store credit only if you wish to cancel all or part of your order.
We understand that from time-to-time you may need to return an item to us.
Before returning any items please contact Booktopia Customer Service Team to discuss your reason for requiring a return and organise an approval to return an item to Booktopia.
Before contacting Booktopia regarding a return please understand the following terms of business:
Before returning any items please contact Booktopia Customer Service Team (see Contact Us) to discuss your reason for requiring a return and organise an approval. Refer to Returns Policy
If you are returning an item for a store credit you will require enough packaging and protection e.g. bubble-wrap and cardboard to ensure that contents do not slide around and cause damage or any further damage particularly if this is the reason for the return.
We suggest you keep your Booktopia packaging until you have made contact with the Customer Service Team. We encourage you to re-use the packaging that Booktopia has used to send the item. If you feel that the packaging cannot be reused for whatever reason you will need to provide your own secure and sturdy packaging.
An item being returned must include a note with your Order number and specify the reason for the return, plus detailed information if the return is due to a fault.
Please contact Customer Service Team prior to returning any goods.
We are happy to exchange or issue a store credit on any title provided you have notified us of your intention within 14 days of the recorded delivery date.
Please refer to important information on Booktopia's Returns Policy requirements and How to Return and Item instructions.
Booktopia does pack every parcel with care to ensure it arrives at its destination in the same condition it left our Distribution Centre. Unfortunately a small percentage of packages do arrive damaged due to mishandling by Australia Post employees and contractors as part of their standard parcel delivery program. As Australia Post offers Booktopia customers the most cost-effective and comprehensive delivery program we acknowledge that some parcels may arrive damaged and require replacing.
If your item was faulty or damaged between leaving our Distribution Centre and arriving at your delivery address, you must message Booktopia with your order number and the condition of your item(s) within 2 days of the recorded delivery date.
Booktopia will replace the title, depending on availability once the original title is received back. Refunds will not be processed unless a replacement cannot be provided.
Please read the important information on Booktopia's Returns Policy requirements and How to Return and Item instructions.
If you receive an item that is not what you ordered, you must message Booktopia with your order number and the missing title/ISBN and received title/ISBN within 2 days of the recorded delivery date.
Booktopia will exchange the title, depending on availability once the original title is received back. Booktopia will provide instructions for returning the item. Refunds will not be processed unless a replacement cannot be provided.
If you are enquiring about a CD, MP3, Audio Cassette, Video or DVD that you have received then please refer to the Booktopia Audio & Visual Policy.
Roughly Cut Pages - Publishers can choose to print books with a Bevelled-Edge. The publishing industry say this style is supposed to give the item an older feel.
The publishers do not inform the distributors or booksellers that a particular title has been produced this way.
There are often no alternative editions of a title produced with a Bevelled-Edge.
Please read the important information on Booktopia's Returns Policy requirements and How to Return and Item instructions.

All prices are listed in Australian dollars. If placing an order from outside Australia you will be charged in your own currency at the conversion rate of your credit card company.
All prices on the Booktopia website are for orders placed via the website only. Orders placed by phone, fax (only for orders not with a Booktopia order number), in person at our office or by mail order will be charged the full RRP prices quoted on the website plus a $10 non-refundable administration fee as they will need to be hand processed by Booktopia staff.
All orders are subject to price and availability confirmation. If we cannot supply the product for the originally advertised price then Booktopia will do one of two things.
If the increase in price is marginal then Booktopia will absorb the increase and proceed with the order and adjust the price on the website after processing your order.
If the price is significantly more then we will not proceed until we have consulted with the customer via the message centre in your Booktopia account and outlined the options. The customer will not be charged for that item until Booktopia has been given confirmation to proceed with the new price. You have 48 hours to respond to the options given to you. If you respond after this time frame, you will be asked to place a new order through the website. If there are other titles on the order that are readily available then they will be automatically ordered, regardless of what percentage of the order they make up.
Booktopia are not obligated to sell a title at the listed price if we are not able to source it from our supplier at the time of ordering as prices may have changed in the interim. In all instances you will be contacted via the message centre in your Booktopia account if there is a change of price and Booktopia will endeavour to find an alternative edition for the same price or discuss the possibility of purchasing the same title at the new price.
We reserve the right to correct any printing errors.

Every Google eBook can be downloaded in one of two formats, and sometimes both: PDF and ePub.
The actual file that you download will have an .acsm extension; these downloads are for use only on devices which run Adobe Content Server 4's DRM (including the Adobe Digital Editions software for your computer, or these devices). Opening the ACSM file will then trigger the download of the actual PDF or ePub and open your Adobe Digital Editions program.

All Region 4 discs use the PAL broadcast standard.Secondly, there is a slight variation between NTSC and PAL running speeds. Where conventional film runs at 24 frames per second (fps), a TV signal runs at 30 fps (60 fields) for NTSC, or 25 fps (50 fields) for PAL.
For a PAL display, the simple method when transferring film is to present the film frames at 25 a second instead of 24 (the 4% speedup as mentioned above) and speed up the image to be synchronous with the images. The speedup raises the pitch of available audio tracks by one half of one tone although it's questionable as to whether this is distinguishable by the human ear.
The solution for an NTSC display is to spread the 24 film frames across the 60 video fields by alternating the display of the first film frame for 2 video fields and the next film frame for 3 video fields. This process is referred to as 2-3 pull-down and, again, it's questionable whether this process is noticeable to the human eye.
Neither format is inherently better than the other.Anamorphically enhanced DVDs can be viewed just as easily on fullscreen TVs as widescreen ones although the process is usually not discernible. PC monitors, despite almost universally being 4:3, have a higher resolution than TV sets and so can display the widescreen image in a window 854x480 pixels or higher for NTSC, 1024x576 or higher for PAL).
Despite a common misunderstanding, the term 'anamorphic' does not ensure that the image will entirely fill the screen of a widescreen TV set.Dolby Digital (DD): this format (formerly known as AC3) is currently used on existing DVDs and offers up to 5.1 channel digital surround sound.
Dolby Digital Plus (DD+): an extension of DD, this format offers increased bitrates and 7.1 channel surround sound.
Dolby TrueHD: this format offers lossless audio encoding of up to 8 discrete channels.
DTS Digital Surround: this format, currently used for some existing DVDs, offers 5.1-channel surround sound at an increased bitrate to Dolby Digital (DD).
DTS-HD: an extension of DTS, this format offers increased bitrates and up to 8 discrete channels.
Please note: although Blu-ray Disc supports all the above formats, it is dependent on the content manufacturer to decide which are included on the release of a particular disc and you may require an additional hardware decoder to access some formats.Introduced by the film studios due to the staggered theatrical release of movies worldwide and to protect exclusive markets, region coding is intended as a method of ensuring discs would be playable only in certain geographical locations.
Region A: North America, South America, East Asia except for ChinaGenerally, all DVDs and Blu-rays released in Australia will be classified. Only a narrow range of films may be exempt from classification. These titles may be marked as exempt.
