Romantic, liberating and totally addictive, Fifty Shades of Grey is a novel that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you for ever.
When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews successful entrepreneur Christian Grey, she finds him very attractive and deeply intimidating. Convinced that their meeting went badly, she tries to put him out of her mind – until he turns up at the store where she works part-time, and invites her out.
Unworldly and innocent, Ana is shocked to find she wants this man. And, when he warns her to keep her distance, it only makes her want him more.
But Grey is tormented by inner demons, and consumed by the need to control. As they embark on a passionate love affair, Ana discovers more about her own desires, as well as the dark secrets Grey keeps hidden away from public view …

50 shades of grey isn't well written, E L James uses phrases that occur often, the chracters aren't developed well and are very predicable and there are parts that could be more concise. However, the book engages with the reader. The readers want to read this book because of how it make you feel. E L James has based her book on common human emotion of love; the sacrifices we make and the difficulty in making love work. We all want what Ana experienced; someone that loves us, does things without being asked, shows appreciation and is willing to make changes to make it work and ensure happiness. 50 shades is hard to put down once you start reading, nevertheless, I wouln't suggest this book if you're an analytical reader because of the many flaws it has in regards to how it is written. In saying that, it is the perfect book for relaxing.

The reader needs to be open-minded to read this book, which I am. I did not read Book 3 of the trilogy - by then, the story had gotten too repetitive for me to stay interested in the mildly suspenseful storyline.
The only thing that upsets me about this trilogy is that it is readily available to non-adult purchasers (I checked at a couple of book stores - no age restrictions). I don't think erotic fiction should be readily available to minors, especially when this particular type of erotica is so graphically described.
Other than that, it's a good book - 3/5.

Comments about Fifty Shades of Grey:
I felt as if I was in the minority with this book. I couldn't rake up the enthusiasiam. Poorly written and read like a story from Mills and Boons and even though I tried hard to finish it, kept skimming over the pages. Don't know what all the fuss was about over the erotica. Some historical romances have equally erotic scences and you don't find them on the best seller list. Amazing what hype can do to a books sales!!!

Comments about Fifty Shades of Grey:
Repetitive.Story could have been done in 1/2 the pages.By end of first book expected more depth to the characters.Didn't need to be trilogy as could have done in 2 books tops.Expected more after all the hype. Can now say have read but wouldn't bother again.Friends fairly much agree too.

Comments about Fifty Shades of Grey:
This is a love story which also taps into any sexual fantasy that any woman may ever have have (almost) ... hence the popularity and buzz about this book (and the next two). It is certainly addictive so make sure you have lots of time to read.

Fifty Shades and Something Blue arrived within a week so would highly recommend Booktopia. They are both fabulous books, easy to read and would highly recommend. Had heard mixed reviews about Fifty Shades but I was pleasantly suprised! I think I'm turning into a bookworm, definitely hooked and still love paperbacks.

Great erotic escsapism, despite the average writing and sometimes annoying characters. Wanted to read it so I knew what everyone was talking about and glad I did.
