Book Description

Makedde Vanderwall, part-time model and forensic psychology student always attracts the wrong type of man.

When she travels to Sydney on assignment and finds her best friend murdered, she soon discovers a deadly puzzle of suspicious photographers, hired thugs, mysterious lovers and the handsome, jaded Detective Andy Flynn investigating the Stiletto Murders - the most violent serial killings Australia has ever known. In her quest to uncover the truth behind her best friend'smurder, Mak falls headlong into a deadly game of cat and mouse, unaware she has become the obsession of a sadistic psychopath.

When a photo from her portfolio disappears, her borrowed flat is ransacked and Andy Flynn suddenly goes underground, Mak knows she must run. But where can she go and to whom can she turn? Mak has scratched the seedy underbelly of a foreign city and is driven into a corner, an evil place where, for her own well-being and state of mind, she must suspect everyone and everything...

The first book in the Mak Vanderwall series, FETISH is followed by SPLIT, COVET, HIT, SIREN and the latest book, ASSASSIN, will be available from 1 September 2012.

    Comments about Fetish:

I would recommend this book to all my friends (I'm 21), though it's probably not appropriate for under 17's..
It's fast-paced, very well written, engaging from start to finish, will leave you desperate to read the next one. The series is absolutely worth a read!

    Comments about Fetish:

Certainly not what I expected compared to her other series, but I was impressed with the strong female main character portrayal. Definately for an older reader rather than teens as the story got a bit graphic towards the end. I shudder to think of the research... A great read til the early hours none-the-less.

    Tara Moss

Tara Moss is the author of the bestselling crime novels Fetish, Split, Covet, Hit and Siren. Her novels have been published in seventeen countries* in eleven languages, and have earned critical acclaim around the world. Her non-fiction writing has appeared in The Australian Literary Review, Vogue, ELLE, The Australian Women's Weekly, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian, among other publications.

Writing has been a lifelong passion for Moss, who began penning gruesome "Stephen King-inspired" stories for her classmates at 10. She went on to a successful international career as a fashion model before pursuing professional writing, first earning a Diploma from the Australian College of Journalism in 1997, and in 1998 winning the Scarlet Stiletto Young Writers Award for her story, Psycho Magnet. Moss wrote her debut novel, Fetish, when she was 23. Her crime novels have been nominated for both the Davitt Award and the Ned Kelly; two of Australia's most prestigious honors. Not a writer to rely solely on imagination, Moss' in-depth research for her writing has seen her earn her private investigator credentials (Cert III) from the Australian Security Academy, tour the FBI Academy at Quantico, spend time in squad cars, morgues, prisons, the Hare Psychopathy Lab, the Supreme Court and criminology conferences world-wide, take polygraph tests, shoot weapons, conduct surveillance, pass the Firearms Training Simulator (FATSII) with the LAPD, pull 4.2 G's doing loops over the Sydney Opera House flying with the RAAF, and acquire her CAMS race driver licence. Stopping at nothing to research and 'experience' scenes for her latest novel Siren, Moss was set on fire by Hollywood stunt company West EFX, and choked unconscious by Ultimate Fighter 'Big' John McCarthy.

Moss hosted Natgeo Presents and the international crime documentary series "Tara Moss Investigates" on the National Geographic Channel, and has participated as a guest and panelist on numerous popular TV programs. She has also conducted hundreds of talks at literary festivals, schools, universities and corporate events.

Born in Victoria, BC, Moss is a dual Australian/Canadian citizen, and now has a star on the Australian Walk of Fame, as the first person inducted for services to literature. She divides her time between Sydney, Los Angeles and her hometown in Canada. When not researching and writing her next novel, Moss enjoys riding her 900cc Triumph Scrambler motorcycle, spending time with her pet pythons, and serving as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, as well as an ambassador for the YWCA, and the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. She is married to Australian poet and philosopher Dr. Berndt Sellheim.

(*Moss's novels have so far been published in the USA, Canada, UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Russia, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand.)
