Not all families can cross the chasm that grows between them while simply trying to live their own lives. Delivering powerful performances Robby Benson and Paul Newman create a touching portrait of a father and son who live in very different worlds who struggle to find common ground.
With a heart grown cold after his wife's death cantankerous construction worker Harry (Newman) is more comfortable wielding a wrecking ball than knocking down the wall he's constructed around his feelings. But while other family members have abandoned Harry his romantic idealistic son (Benson) will stop at nothing to break through his dad's surly surface. In between writing, surfing and generally loving every minute of life, this would-be Hemmingway is not about to let his father's gruff exterior keep out his love... even if he has to rewrite family history to do it!
