Gardening Australia's design guru John Patrick and garden enthusiast Jenny Wade take you on a tour of twenty of Australia's most beautiful gardens and introduce you to some outstanding garden design.
Enter the minds of Australia's leading designers, including Paul Bangay, Catherine Shields, Peter Fudge, Dean Herald, Jamie Durie, Kevin Taylor and Kate Cullity, and discover what inspired them to become designers. Learn how they approach a design brief, assess a site and solve design problems for all styles of garden from courtyard to seashore, country to urban. Each designer gives details of their planting schemes, shows how they overcome problems posed by difficult sites and shares their final design decisions.
Each garden is an elegant demonstration of skill and this book showcases the talent that has enabled these designers to lead the field in contemporary garden design, both in Australia and overseas.
With a foreward by leading design practitioner Jim Sinatra, a comprehensive introduction that puts current design practice in historical and cultural context, and design tips that show how to apply innovative ideas to your own garden, this beautifully photographed and designed book is an essential read for every gardener.
'This is the kind of book every one of us should have. It's the words of wisdom, the skill and the imagination of our greatest garden designers.' Peter Cundall

Comments about Contemporary Australian Garden Design:
Excellent book. Every designer includes plans. Some designs are quite average, but overall an excellent book. Some of the images could have been better quality. Totally design orientated, no other rubbish. Big thumbs up.
