A woman on the run and a grieving man find salvation in each other in this contemporary romance. Heavily pregnant widow Laura Malone is fleeing her former in-laws, who are determined to get custody of her baby. A car accident and a snowstorm strand Laura in a remote Colorado cabin with Gabriel Bradley, who at first resents the imposition on his solitude, but soon he can't imagine a life without Laura and the coming child.
The last thing Vance Banning needed was a charitable neighbour - especially the blonde cheerleader type! But he had no idea how persistent Shane Abbott could be when it came to giving a helping hand - or a loving heart.
For a while it looked as though the Civil War would break out all over again, only this time, it would be a battle of wills with Shane determined to break down his resistance, and Vance equally determined to remain invincible to her charming assault. He'd been burned once, and only a fool fell for the same innocent act twice. And Vance was no fool.
No.1 New York Times bestselling author You can't bottle wish fulfilment, but Nora Roberts certainly knows how to put it on the page. -New York Times
About the Author
Nora Roberts was born in Silver Spring Maryland, the youngest of five children. After a school career that included some time in Catholic school and the disciplines of nuns, she married young and settled in Keedysville, Maryland.
Born into a family of readers, Nora had never known a time that she wasn't reading or making up stories. During the now famous blizzard, she pulled out a pencil and notebook and began to write down one of those stories. It was there that a career was born. Several manuscripts and rejections later, her first book, Irish Thoroughbred, was published by Silhouette in 1981.
Through the years, Nora has always been surrounded by men. Not only was she the youngest in her family, but she was also the only girl. She has raised two sons. Having spent her life surrounded by men has given Ms. Roberts a fairly good view of the workings of the male mind, which is a constant delight to her readers. It was, she's been quoted as saying, a choice between figuring men out or running away screaming.
