What is it like to make millions before you turn 20?
What drives City traders to excess in their quest for extreme wealth?
And what happens when they lose it all overnight?
The City of London is one cast casino. For the last decade traders and bankers have gambled with their own money, their clients' money, and out pension funds. They won millions; we lost billions.
Binge Trading is a shocking expose of life in the Square Mile. Seth Freedman – who gambled and partied with the best – shows us just who the biggest traders are and how they get their kicks. He takes us inside their world of fast cars, champagne and con tricks – and inside their fevered minds, craving the high of the next deal.
Finally, Binge Trading reveals just how easy it becomes, when a fortune is put in your hands, to forget that anything else matters.
About the Author
At the age of nineteen, Seth Freedman ditched his university place to take a job at a City of London stockbrokers. It was 1999, the height of the dot-com boom, and within months he was handling millions of pounds' worth of client orders. He dealt for Swiss banks, spending time in Geneva learning to trade bonds, before leaving to take his client base to another London brokerage. On growing disillusioned with the life he was leading in the City, he moved to Israel and spent fifteen months in a combat unit of the IDF where he grew even more disillusioned, albeit for vastly different reasons. He has written for the Guardian about the financial markets and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He is the author of Can I Bring My Own Gun?
