Sandy loves being at the beach, and plays happily with her older brother Marcus and Aunty Missy, both of whom are enthusiastic surfers. All is well until one day, while swimming with her mum, Sandy is dumped by a big wave. It's a frightening experience. She loses all her confidence in the water. How will she ever go back in?
About the Author
Raewyn Caisley was born in New Zealand but has lived in Australia for the past twenty years. She currently lives in Fremantle with her husband, Terry, and their son, Jack. Raewyn has written several books about different sports including Karate Star, Tennis Star and Top Marks. Other books for younger readers include Monkey Trix (in the Aussie Bites series), The Queen's Cubby, and two Aussie Nibbles: The Mermaid's Tail and Tai's Penguin, both illustrated by Ann James.
About the Illustrator
Elise Hurst has written five children's books and illustrated over fifty. Some of her picture books (which she also wrote) are The Elephants' Big Day Out, A Dream of Bunyips Dancing and The Night Garden, which was shortlisted for the CBCA's Book of the Year: Early Childhood award in 2008. As well as being an illustrator, Elise has a career in fine art and is an occasional lecturer at RMIT. She and her husband live in Melbourne.
