The wonderful village where Asterix and Obelix live has only one drawback: its bard is the worst musician in the ancient world.

Whenever Cacofonix strikes up a tune, the sun hides behind the clouds and the rain begins to fall. But, then a fakir flies in on a magic carpet asking for help in ending a terrible drought in his kingdom.

Otherwise, his daughter Orinjade will be sacrificed to the gods. Suddenly, Cacofonix's talents come in mighty handy.

Comments about Asterix and the Magic Carpet:

Towards the end of the series the Asterix comics somewhat drop in quality though to its credit the series hasn't had a truly terrible instalment aside from the ho hum Class Act and the Falling Sky which was just a bad idea. However the Magic Carpet is an exception to the rule and on par with the excellent stories of the early and mid history of the series. Not to mention it takes our heroes to arguably the most exotic place they have ever been, India.
